As one of California's most enduring landmarks, The Lone Cypress, has prevailed on its rocky perch for over 250 years. This icon of fortitude has inspired many, including me on a visit in 2005. The symbol of the Pebble Beach Resorts and one well known to golfers, the tree is considered among the ten most magnificent trees in the world, and no wonder. The tree is now supported by cables with a hope that it will live to birthday number 300.
